Wedding
Bells For Jean and John After 25 Years
Jean and John Savory from Northhamptshire first met on 14th
May, 1977. It was their greatest wish to marry in Boppard,
their most favourite holiday resort, exactly 25 years later
to the day. The couple asked the Tourist Information if
they could help out with the preparations and Pfarrer Walter
Krause was happy to make their wish come true. Family and
friends from England, Holland and Germany were part of the
congregation to witness Jean and John take their marriage
vows in the Christus Church in Boppard. The happy couple
would have liked to have celebrated their official ceremony
at the regristry office in Boppard. However, the amount
of paper work involved proved to be too big a burden, even
the Main Registry Office in Berlin would have been involved.
The couple decided to take their official marriage vows
at home in England. " We love Boppard, no other place
would do for our wedding. We like it so much here,"
said Jean Savory when asked the reason for taking the plunge
in Boppard. Jean and John have been visiting Boppard many
times each year since 1998. "The flight from London
Stanstead to Hahn just takes about an hour and friends collect
us at the airport. It's such an easy way to travel,"
the couple were happy to tell us. Is Boppard the wedding
paradise of the future for Britons? Pfarrer Krause and Tourist
Director Arwed Koglin would be only too pleased to help.
